Diary entry 11th March 2026, a public commitment & UFO 'No Place to Run'

I'm currently reading Steven Bartlett‘s book 'The Diary of a CEO: the 33 laws of business and life" (thanks for this Christmas present from my youngest son Luke).

One approach that Bartlett talks about is the Feynman Technique which is basically this...
"If you want to master something, do it publicly and do it consistently."

One thing I’ve wrestled with throughout most of my adult life is my weight. I was like a stick insect during my teens, I remember being 12 stone on the day I married Lynne in 1987 (I was aged 25) but I’ve moved back-and-forth ever since and currently with the ankle/Achilles problem mentioned in my previous blog, exercise is proving difficult/painful. So, the temptation to eat is heightened (comfort eating would be close to the mark) and in consequence my weight is on a definite upward trend, which is particularly disappointing as I had done well in the period just before this.

And so, with no excuses, nowhere to hide & no place to run, today I declare my weight this morning to be exactly 114 kg and give my public commitment to get back to 107 kg by 4 weeks from today... so that will be 8th April. Do-able. Wish me luck!

"No Place to Run" : UFO... a cracking album where Paul 'Tonka' Chapman does a well above average job of keeping the lead guitar seat warm for Michael Schenker. Produced by George Martin (of The Beatles fame) & released in January 1980. Stand out tracks.. 'No Place to Run', 'Lettin Go', 'Gone in the Night'.
