LJ and LA

A few weeks back my wife Lynne (LA) went to see Lynne Jackaman (LJ) live in concert, accompanied by our friend Shane Mckie, a big LJ fan. Many of you will know Shane as a keen supporter of bands from various UK locations including Manchester. Also his son Freddie is a gifted graphic designer who has worked for our own Absolva (from the Rocksector Records label), plus Massive Wagons and many more.

Plenty of you will remember LJ fronting the band St. Jude several years ago, a blues rock band of no small reputation who, for reasons unknown to me, disappeared from the scene before fulfilling their huge potential.

LJ now records and releases under her own name - her debut album 'One Shot' was released in 2020 and is more soul than blues, very classy and recorded at the legendary FAME studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, USA. As I understand it the recent Manchester show is part of a tour, not so much a comeback, but a build up to a full-on return and I hope a new album.

LA was introduced to LJ and bought the 'One Shot' CD. LA also told LJ about our SOS Festival (Oldham, Greater Manchester, established 2007) and LJ super-generously donated a signed copy of the 'One Shot' vinyl LP to be part of the auction at the 2026 edition of the festival, whereby the auction proceeds are donated to our chosen charity Parkinson's UK.

Many thanks to LJ, SM, & of course LA and the indomitable SOS x
